In the last few years, the use of educational technology, particularly the concept of Learning Management System (LMS), has increased rapidly. With this fast development, the question arises as how to manage the LMS to obtain success and efficiency in online courses. One of the important factors that have received many citations in literature studies (and has a special position in information system research) is the user satisfaction. It is a crucial factor that can predict the success or failure of any LMS. In relation, this research examined the success factors that affect the user satisfaction and outcomes of LMS. This paper discusses the conceptual User Satisfaction Evaluation Model (USEM) employed to measures LMS success. In particular, it seeks to examine “the relationship between: Service quality, system quality, ease of use, perceived usefulness, information quality and students satisfaction, as well as to measure the outcomes of the LMS.” Results from the data analysis indicate that all proposed factors have a positive effect on student satisfaction. The result also concludes that a higher rate of user satisfaction will lead to greater benefits for the students.

This paper delves into the capacity of enhanced Big Bang-Big Crunch (EBB-BC) metaheuristic to handle data clustering problems. BB-BC is a product of an evolution theory of the universe in physics and astronomy. Two main phases of BB-BC are big bang and big crunch. The big bang phase involves a creation of a population of random initial solutions, while in the big crunch phase these solutions are shrunk into one elite solution exhibited by a mass center. This study looks into enhancing the BB-BC’s effectiveness in clustering data. Where, the inclusion of an elite pool alongside implicit solution recombination and local search method, contribute to such enhancement. Such strategies resulted in a balanced search of good quality population that is also diverse. The proposed elite pool-based BB-BC was compared with the original BB-BC and other identical metaheuristics. Fourteen different clustering datasets were used to test BB-BC and the elite pool-based BB-BC showed better performance compared to the original BB-BC. BB-BC was impacted more by the incorporated strategies. The experiments outcomes demonstrate the high quality solutions generated by elite pool-based BB-BC. Its performance in fact supersedes that of identical metaheuristics such as swarm intelligence and evolutionary algorithms.

Using technology in education is not an option these days, where mobile phones, laptops, tablets, etc. are all used by students at all ages. Students spent a significant amount of their time on those devices regardless whether this time is for educational and or other types of activities and goals. Integrating study materials by educators with those technology equipment does not only improve the visibility of those study materials to students, but also improve communication between educators and students. This is the reason behind writing a study materials in online interactive forms can be seen as optional to some educators or in some study domains. However using online and interactive e-learning systems to communicate with students should not be seen as an option any more. In this paper, we analyze results of a set of experiments to conducted the impact of online education on students' learning or performance. The experiments are conducted in the Faculty of Computers and Information Technology at the University of Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia, information technology and communication devices are heavily used by students even at early school ages. Over 900 students have participated in the study between the years 2011 through 2014. We evaluated the results between the different teaching methods each year as well as between the different classes over the 3-years period. Results showed that students involved in the online method have achieved a slightly better performance in examinations in comparison with other students. We investigated causes of such improvement. Results showed that clearly young generations are consuming a significant amount of their time in those devices and gadgets. Bringing education materials to those devices can help them utilize some of this time for educational purposes and improve their skills.

In attempt to increase the rate of Arabic phonemes recognition, we introduce a novel hybrid recognition algorithm. The algorithm is composed of the learning vector quantization (LVQ) and hidden Markov model (HMM). The hybrid algorithm used to recognizing Arabic phonemes in continuous open-vocabulary speech. A recorded Arabic corpus of different TV news for modern standard Arabic was used for training and testing purposes. We employ a data driven approach to generate the training feature vectors that embed the frame neighboring correlation information. Next, we generate the phonemes codebooks using the K-means splitting algorithm. Then, we trained the generated codebooks using the LVQ algorithm. We achieved a performance of 98.49 % during independent classification training and 90 % during dependent classification training. When using the trained LVQ codebooks in Arabic utterance transcription, the phoneme recognition rate was 72 % using LVQ only. We combined the LVQ codebooks with the single state HMM model using enhanced Viterbi algorithm which includes the phonemes bigrams. We achieved 89 % of Arabic phonemes recognition rate based on the hybrid LVQ/HMM algorithm.

This paper examines the agreement and word-order tackling in Arabic MT systems. The paper represents an English to Arabic approach for translating well-structured English sentences into well-structured Arabic sentences using a new rules to handle the problems of ordering and agreement. The methodology is flexible and scalable, the main advantages are: first, it is a rule-based approach, and second, it can be applied on some other languages with minor modifications. The database has been designed to be flexible where most of the rules are defined in tables in order to generalize the code. Validation rules have been applied in both the database design and the programming code in order to ensure the integrity of data. A major design goal of this system is that it will be used as a stand-alone tool and can be very well integrated with a general machine translation system for English sentence.

Machine Translation has been defined as the process that utilizes computer software to translate text from one natural language to another[2].This definition involves accounting for the grammatical structure of each language and using rules and grammars to transfer the grammatical structure of the source language (SL) into the target language (TL). Agreement and Word-ordering play an important role with this structure, as MT should handle agreement between the subject and verb where the number gender, person and features of the subject are important factors in the derivation of the verb as well as the features of the verb itself. Other agreements are required between the adjective and the noun where Arabic adjectives depend on the number, gender and person as well as the definiteness and indefiniteness of the noun. Some other agreements also exist between the numbers and the countable nouns. This paper examines the agreement and word-order rules in tackling Arabic MT systems. Special attention is given to Tarjim by Sakhr Software Company which pioneered a new generation of Arabic Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies.
