Abstract: The straw and plastic fibers are used in concrete mix, to minimize crackswidthafter shrinkage and creep .Various types of mentioned admixturesare needed in concrete to eliminate cracks, and to increase strength of concrete and to make it more ductile. This research presents a discussion of two types of fibers used to reinforce concrete , such as straw and plastic fibers, separately and together, and this application is necessary to improve the concrete performance in its strength and ductility .Furthermore , this application is very important to achieve a limitation of the cracks, that may appear in concrete after its hardening.Plastic fiber can be produced from the plastic threads and waste propylene ,that are considered as waste materials after uses. Straw fiberis produced after harvesting thewheat , the straw waste is costly and noisy to eliminate by burning.A huge amount of plastic disposal as well as straw waste materials , cause a climate pollution. Using these both disposal materials in concrete mix (as an admixture) of different portions such as : 0.5% , 1.5% and 2.5% by weight of sand, will improve the ductility , and will inhibit the crack propagation.Thepaper is focused on testing different specimens of concrete mixes (cubes and cylinders)in order to investigate crack propagation, as well as to calculate both the concrete compression and tension. Most of the construction materials research now concerns on investigation of construction materials that is locally produced at a rate and cost compatible with the pace of construction. The present paper is concerned with investigation of fresh and hardened properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) produced from local available materials in JORDAN. The produced SCC contains the local stone cut waste powder which is called Al-KHAMKHA in JORDAN with different replacement of (0%, 10%, and 25%) of fine silica aggregate; the study also investigates the effects of SP33 super plasticizer which is used by different doses (1%, 1.5% and 2%) for cement. The slump flow and the compressive strength of SCC were studied and the experimental results indicate the possibility of using Al-KHAMKHA in the production of SCC as the results showed that the compressive strength of the SCC with 10 % replacement by al-khamkha together with 1% SP33 super plasticizer was higher compared to pure SCC without al-khamkha; the results also showed that as al-khamkha content increased the slump flow decreased.

The primary concern of this paper is to understand the engineering properties of the locally expansive soils found in Jerash city when treated by locally available stone cutting powder waste AL-Khamkha. The properties of soil such as liquid limit, plastic limit, plastic index and free swelling index were assessed for addition of AL-Khamkha by proportions of 0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% and 40% by weigh of dry expansive soil. The soil used in this study is classified as clay of high plasticity, i.e., CH soil. From the analysis of results, it is found that as AL-Khamkha content increases from 0% to 40% the plasticity index and free swell index are decreasing and this is what the structural engineers are preferred when treating expansive soils. For achieving stable soil with zero swelling index, the addition of 40% AL-Khamkha can be recommended.

Each soil type has different behavior with regard to determination of maximum dry density and optimum moisture content and therefore any soil type has its own compaction requirements for experimental purposes and for control the compaction in the field. The general purpose of this study is to a better understanding of the compaction characteristics of high expansive soils, with emphasis on the relationships of moisture content and dry density of high expansive soils at a range of compaction energy levels. To achieve this purpose, high expansive soils samples were subjected to Atterberg limit and a set of laboratory compaction tests to find compaction characteristics namely; maximum dry unit weight and optimum water content of high expansive soils at different compaction energy (compaction effort) for different number of hammer blows per each layer range from 10 to 50, which varied the energy per unit volume from 356 KN/m3 to 1188 KN/m3.Rather than single peak compaction curves, the most achieved compaction curves are an irregular one and half peak compaction curves. According to the comparison results of different compaction energy, it was concluded that the maximum dry unit weight of high expansive soil was not highly affected by gradually increase of applied energy. The results showed that, the maximum dry density of tested expansive soils sample increased from 1.48g/cm3 to 1.6g/cm3 with increase of compaction energy from 356 KN/m3 to 1188 KN/m3.

Many case studies have been conducted on the adoption strategies of building information modelling (BIM). This paper is aimed at exploring the best strategy to implement BIM in the Jordanian construction industry. The contractors can use this strategy to assess how ready they are to adopt building information modelling. To achieve the target, a comprehensive literature was expanded in two frameworks, firstly, Jordan construction industry to understand the current conditions for the construction practice and highlight related challenges. The second framework was building information modelling, the concept, adoption conditions, and best practices to pick the best adoption strategy. To conceptualize the nominated theoretical adoption strategies, a qualitative approach was followed, and 15 semi-structured interviews were carried out with the largest construction companies in the Jordanian construction industry. Reliability and validity checks were performed at three levels; A focus group workshop consists of four construction experts who recommended adjustments inregard of culture’ components in the theoretical strategies, The second level of validity where a questionnaire sent to 50 respondents work for a construction organizations, secondly the results were analysed by the structured equation modelling technique, the first hypotheses was rejected leading to a second adjustment inregard of the conceptual framework. To perform the final validity check, a discussion with three major industry players in Jordan took place in order to finalise the conceptual strategies framework. Findings showed that the best strategy to adopt BIM among construction companies in Jordan is still unclear, so many barriers and challenges are facing BIM adoption such as, but not limited to, Lack of government support , BIM unawareness, the absence of BIM training centres and specialists , resistance to change and cost.

Jordan construction industry experience challenges that reduce the number of construction industry organizations to121organization in 2016 compared to 148 in 2015 based on the Central Bank of Jordan annual report. According to the literature the main causes identified by researchers include poor design, poor scheduling and planning and the fragmental nature of the industry. To address these challenges, the adopting of Building Information Modelling (BIM) is proposed. This study presents a strategic plan to adopt BIM by the private sector of the Jordan construction industry. Through wide and comprehensive survey (quantitative approach) the findings shows that the adoption of BIM in the Jordanian private construction section is subjected to many factors such as the top management support, spreading awareness by the construction associations and governmental national BIM training centres.

Cost management is an important stage in construction project life cycle, construction projects need cost management in the first stage to finish the project within required cost, time and quality, it's considered as the most factors affecting in the success of construction projects in all developing and developed countries. Many researchers focused to studying the factors affected in cost performance in construction projects in different countries, because cost is an important attribute in construction projects. The project considered as success project when it finished within limited cost and time with required quality, the three items (cost, time and quality) depend on each other, any change in one of them affects the other, whether the effect was positive or negative, the main item of them is cost, so this encourage many researchers to study the factors affected in cost management. This research is carried out to highlight the information on the factors that affected in cost management during the life cycle on construction project, the data collected through 41 reviews focused in studying factors affected in cost performance of construction project. In this research it is to be found different factors in different countries and different projects, the most important factors found through literature review are: design changes, poor management in the site, delay in progress payment by owner, fluctuation in material price.

In this paper, local meteorological data for a period of 35 years (from 1979 to 2013) from Kuujuaq station have been used to calculate the surface refractivity, N (a link for the data is available in the acknowledgements), and to estimate the vertical refractivity gradient, dN1, in the lowest atmospheric layer above the ground. Monthly and yearly variations of the mean of N and dN1 are provided. The values obtained are compared with the corresponding values from the ITU maps. The long‐term trend of the surface refractivity is also investigated. The data demonstrate that the indices N and dN1 are subject to an evolution that may have significance in the context of climate change. Monthly means of N show an increasing departure from ITU‐R values since 1990. Yearly mean values of the dN1 show a progressive decrease over the period of study. Seasonal means of dN1 show a decrease over time, especially for summer. Such a trend may increase the occurrence of superrefraction. However, currently available ITU‐R recommendations for microwave link design assume a stationary climate, so there is a need for a new modeling approach.
